Montego Bay, Jamaica

We went to Montego Bay, Jamaica for our honeymoon in October, 1998. We stayed at Sandals Montego Bay which is an all-inclusive couples-only resort. We visited Sandals Royal Jamaican a couple times, which is also in Montego Bay. Unfortunately, we arrived shortly after Hurricane Mitch had passed nearby and the weather was cloudy and rainy almost the whole week. The Sandals staff that is in charge of the entertainment (the "playmakers") did a very good job keeping us busy and we had a great time even though we didn't get much of a tan.

The beach

This is a picture taken on the beach when it wasn't raining.

Here's a photo of Jeff in the ocean.

Here's another shot of the beach area. The beach at Sandals MoBay is pretty long. I love the palm trees....

This is me floating in the pool. I love those things....nice and relaxing.

One of the pools

Here's a shot of the other pool. It has a very interesting shape to it and has a couple walking bridges over it.

This is another part of the interesting-shaped pool. It has a bar right next to the water inside that building.

The bar even has barstools in the pool. You can order your strawberry daquiries (my favorite) without even getting out of the pool. This bar is also the piano bar where they sometimes have sing-alongs at night.

They have several hottubs which were a good place to warm up when it started raining and a good place to meet people. At one time every couple in the hottub with us got married on the same day and we were all on our honeymoon. This particular resort seemed to be very popular with honeymooners.

Barb and Jason with us

This is one of the honeymooning couples we met--Barb and Jason from Maryland. We spent a lot of time together during the trip and we still keep in touch with them. As you can see, Barb got all her hair braided while we were there. I wonder how long it took her to get them all out...

We went snorkelling, which is one of the many included activities. It was the first time I had ever done it and it was pretty cool although I didn't see as many fish as we did in Nassau. This photo was taken with an underwater camera.
