Jeff and I went to Myrtle Beach for the Fourth of July weekend in 1997. Rather than staying in a motel, we camped at the nearby KOA Kampground. This was a budget trip after going to the Bahamas a couple months earlier. It was also my first time camping and I loved it! Jeff had camped lots of times before so we had all the equipment.

| This is our campsite. The blue tarp came in handy during a thunderstorm. You can see one of the "Kamping Kabins" in the background but we stuck with a tent. We had a hard time getting reservations for a campsite during this busy weekend but there were plenty of empty sites when we got there. We were within walking distance to the beach but Jeff kept complaining about walking (and I kept complaining about spending a half an hour driving around looking for a parking spot). | |||||
| Here's a couple of shots of the beach. I almost killed myself a few times trying to "ride the waves". I tumbled in a ball a few times and swallowed lots of water. | |||||
| These photos are of Jeff and I relaxing on the beach and getting some sun. | |||||
| After it got dark and we left the beach, we often played miniature golf at a nearby mini golf course. It was expensive but it was certainly not a boring course. We watched the fireworks from here on the 5th. | | Zebras in South Carolina?? Well they had some animal statues at the mini golf course....
